Weekly Planner
A weekly planner can help in many ways including providing a clear, organized view of your commitments.
Start by entering:

- All activities that cannot be changed (classes, work, commute time, etc.).
- Specific study periods for each course.
- Identify and utilize odd hours during the day for studying, for example: the time spent riding the bus, doing laundry, or waiting for your next class.
- Schedule a few minutes for a quick review just before and after each class. This will help you to retain the material more effectively and better prepare you for the material to be presented in class.
- Schedule one weekly study period to review the work in each of your courses. This review should be cumulative, covering briefly all the work done thus far in the semester. This type of review aids in the retention of the material and makes it less difficult later when reviewing for examinations.
- Block time for personal priorities such as exercise and social activities.
- Include seven to eight hours of sleep per night.
Weekly Planner Tips:
- Limit your blocks of study time to no more than two hours on any one course at one time. Studying the same material for too long leads to boredom and fatigue. Taking a break and then switching to some other course will increase your efficiency.
- One hour spent soon after classes will do as much good in developing understanding of materials as several hours a few days later. Check over lecture notes while they are still fresh in your mind. Start assignments while your memory of the assignment is still accurate.
