Residence halls
Making friends in your residence hall is beneficial, both academically and socially.
Your neighbors may be enrolled in some of your classes or may be able to provide advice about interesting classes or tough professors to watch out for.
Near and off campus living
The University of Minnesota is a large commuter campus. That means many students live outside of residence halls.
Living off-campus often requires that you make an intentional effort to find your niche among the campus community. Here are some opportunities for meeting people:
- Join The Commuter Connection on Discord, a virtual community for off-campus students.
- Student groups are great. Did you know there is one for UMN commuters?
- Follow commuter social media connections on Instagram, Twitter, and more.
