Diagnose challenges
ADHD can be challenging to diagnose as it often presents with similar symptoms as other conditions. In many instances ADHD exists with co-occurring conditions. A co-occurring condition is one that exists at the same time as ADHD. Connecting with a medical professional is important (particularly if you might have co-occurring conditions) to develop treatment plans.

An ADHD brain has structural abnormalities which result in lower production of the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and GABA. These neurotransmitters act as the fuel for the brain’s executive functions (such as time management, impulse control, and task initiation).
Stimulant medication is often helpful and necessary. You can also develop practices to help improve your functioning. This module provides examples of ways that you can better manage your ADHD.
