Forms of Note-Taking

So far you’ve learned the importance of good notes, gotten some tips, and seen a daily practice pattern you can apply to your note-taking. Next you will learn some of the forms your written notes can take.

Good note-taking forms provide organization, elevate major points, demote minor points, and highlight relationships.

There are different forms you can use in your note-taking. Paragraph form is simplest to master, though it lacks organization. Outline form, in contrast, is most complex and highly organized. See what form works best for you.

Paragraph Form

Example:
Testing the introspections. E.g. vision is effortless.  Evidence for it: Mary Potter’s studies. Created the RSVP paradigm: rapid serial visual presentation. I.e., a sequence of complex images is presented quickly, tapping into the upper limit of the speed of visual perception.
Review, who is right? Potter: vision is efficient. RSVP results replicable. Gist comprehension is fast. Simons: vision is coarse. Change blindness replicable. Visual details are hard to retain Both are right! But each in their own way (gist versus details) of vision.
